Featuring the show-stopping talents of Spawn series artist JASON SHAWN ALEXANDER, and the writer behind such hit shows as Wu-Tang: An American Saga, Marvel's Runaways, and Starz's American Gods--RODNEY BARNES.

When a small town beat cop comes home to bury his murdered father-the revered Philadelphia detective James Sangster Sr.-he begins to unravel a mystery that leads him down a path of horrors and shakes his beliefs to their core.

The city that was once the symbol of liberty and freedom has fallen prey to corruption, poverty, unemployment, brutality...
...and vampires.

But the mystery goes even further when Jimmy's investigation leads him to uncover the source of the outbreak is long-thought dead President of the United States John Adams--a man secretly biding his time as he builds an undead army to start a new and bloodier American revolution.

There's a reason they coin a phrase, "you can't go home." Welcome to Killadelphia.

Killadelphia Trade Volume 1: Sins of the Father

Posted by Tara Woolfolk on Nov 3rd 2020

Killadelphia is the story I credit with getting me interested in reading more graphic tales and horror for catharsis and enjoyment at this point of my life. I read both comics and horror more when I was younger, but like many adults, let my enjoyable activities slip to the side at some point without realizing it. My timing was bad, considering how many more stories are out there now!

This book, written by Rodney Barnes, illustrated by Jason Shawn Alexander, with hues by Luis NCT, and lettering by Marshall Dillon for Image Comics, is involved in a recent, larger development deal made by the versatile and talented multi-hyphenate Rodney Barnes.

Killadelphia has an intricately woven combination of crime noir, original vampire lore, and calls on elements of horror and history to begin what is slated to be a 5 arc tale. It makes for an unconventional ride to places I can't help but want to go. Giving no spoilers, it starts off with young cop Jimmy Sanger coming home to Philadelphia to deal with the death of his more famous detective father, James Sanger, and in the process to make peace with their unresolved estrangement. That is human nightmare enough. But it's barely the beginning, because Jimmy soon finds that vampires are involved in his father's death. They are from an ancient bloodline, with a leader that boggles the mind and at the same time seems almost alarmingly prescient, given today's social and political climate. Do not miss this story. It's fascinating enough for people regardless of where they live, but being from the greater Philadelphia area makes Killadelphia a must-read.

Just like Philly, this story deserves attention, and will leave you feeling love, and anxious to return, after all the fascinatingly complex goings on. This is more than a book; it's a movement! Do. Not. Miss. It.
